Viva Las Vegas…. Design Market Experience 2015

WOW! What an experience. I spent last week at the Las Vegas Market. What a workout! That may sound silly but The market is made up of 3 buildings each containing roughly 15 floors. ***Advice to any designer going there ever… wear walking shoes. There were seriously some women wearing 4″ stilettos. I’m not sure how they were even walking. I wore my tall black Frye boots and still ended up with blistered feet. Not the most pleasant.

Living is the gorge we are slightly isolated from the rest of the world, which frankly is something I love most of the time, but it is good now and again to see what’s going on in the rest of country/world. It was eye-opening to see some of the very modern and very luxurious furniture pieces.

The market was helpful to see all of the manufacturers pieces in person. Getting a chance to sit in the upholstery products really seemed great value. Clients are always asking me if a certain sofa is comfortable, it’s hard to give an answer if I’ve never sat in their furniture. Now I can give an honest answer.

The following day I went to the International Surfaces Event. All I can say is it was not at all what I expected. We did see some really cool new tile designs. Once again an insane amount of walking. Sneakers were my best friend.

I’m so thankful to be back home and to be a gorge girl. I know that every time I come home from a trip, I’m always glad to come home to the gorge but this trip really made me thankful for our gorge lifestyle.
Have a happy day!
Ashley
