There is something about spring that gets everyone excited to start working on projects! My guess, it’s the sun. It’s such a great motivator.
If you’re not loving your current kitchen think about a kitchen redo!
We did this one last year and boy did it change everything. It now functions better than ever, all while looking many, many times better. Just my personal opinion here.
On the fence about a kitchen remodel?
Here are a few questions to ask yourself to help you navigate whether it’s time to renovate or wait.
- How does your kitchen make you feel? Happy, cheerful, inspired?
- Does the layout of your kitchen work for you?
- Does your kitchen reflect your style and the style of your home?
- Is your kitchen in good working order?
- Does your kitchen have enough storage?
If you answered “No” to 1 or more of these questions it sounds like it’s time to start planning your kitchen remodel.
Spring is personally my favorite season to plan projects (especially a kitchen remodel). It gives you time to find a contractor, solidify your budget, and select your finishes. Then the work can all be executed during the summer, possibly while you’re on vacation, or at a minimum while the weather is nice, and you can grill outside. People don’t always consider the best time of year for a kitchen remodel. But it’s no fun when the kitchen is torn up and the outdoor grill is under a foot of snow. Your kitchen will be closed for construction for several weeks so it’s a good idea to consider how you and your family will function best.
In the kitchen pictured we renovated the following items.
- Removed the soffits
- Replaced the window with a larger one
- Re did the lighting plan with all new recessed and pendant lights
- New cabinetry & hardware
- Countertops
- Appliances
- Faucet & Sink
- Tile backsplash.
We basically kept all the main items in the same layout. This helps save money on the renovation. Moving plumbing and lots of electrical can cause a major increase in your budget.

Enjoy the sunshine and warmth of spring and think about how your kitchen is or isn’t working for you. If it’s just right and you love it, more power to you! If it frustrates you, now is the perfect time to think about a kitchen remodel. I’m here to help if you need it!
Until next time, Ashley
