A kitchen and dining room with exposed wood beams and views of the forest

The Highline Residence is a full home renovation located in the Columbia River Gorge, designed to bring light, clarity, and a strong architectural point of view to a custom Pacific Northwest home. The renovation focused on reworking the entire great room, removing walls to improve flow, and completely redesigning the kitchen to better support modern living.

Lighter finishes were introduced throughout the main level to brighten the interior, thoughtfully contrasted by exposed steel beams that anchor the space and celebrate the home’s structure. The result is a modern Scandinavian inspired interior with a distinctly Pacific Northwest sensibility, warm, refined, and grounded in natural materials.

Upstairs, the primary bedroom was fully renovated to include a new wall of windows, creating a retreat that feels immersed in the forest canopy. A new ensuite bathroom was added, transforming the space into a private retreat. The project also included the addition of a full daylight basement, expanding the home’s functionality while maintaining a cohesive design language throughout.
